Ahead of BRICS Summit, Putin praises PM Modi's role in addressing Ukraine Conflict

Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia is interested in a peaceful solution to the Ukraine conflict, adding that Ukraine halted negotiations. He emphasized that the BRICS group is not anti-Western but will significantly influence global economic growth due to its size and faster growth compared to Western nations. Putin expressed his gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for regularly discussing the Russia-Ukraine issue, highlighting India's constructive role in these discussions.
Putin will host the BRICS summit in Kazan from October 22-24, where he aims to strengthen the group's position in global politics and trade. The BRICS group currently includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa, as well as Egypt, Ethiopia, Iran, and the UAE. According to Putin, BRICS was never intended to oppose anyone.

Collaboration in film and pharmaceuticals
Regarding cultural collaboration, Putin was asked about promoting filmmaking among BRICS nations. He acknowledged the popularity of Indian films in Russia and mentioned that there is a TV channel dedicated to Indian movies and a BRICS film festival. He stated that if Indian filmmakers are interested, Russia would be open to finding ways to support them.
Additionally, Putin mentioned that pharmaceuticals are another area where Russia and India could work together. He expressed a willingness to discuss these opportunities further with PM Modi.
